…Handed over to NDLEA
The Nigeria Police Force yesterday arrested the embattled and suspended former head of the Inspector General of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), DCP Abba Kyari and four other police officers for their involvement in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, discreditable, unethical, and unprofessional conduct, official corruption and tampering with exhibits in a case of illicit drug trafficking involving a perpetual transnational drug cartel.

The super cop’s arrest comes hours after National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) declared him wanted over alleged drug links.
Sources told newsmen, in confidence, that DCP Abba Kyari and members of his IRT team were taken into custody and shortly after handed over to the NDLEA operatives.
The suspended DCP is also under investigation after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), of the United States of America, indicted him in the case of fraud involving an Instagram celebrity, Ramon Abbas, a.k.a Hushpuppi.
Recall that earlier in the day, the NDLEA had declared Abba Kyari wanted after he was accused of leading a cartel of drug barons operating Brazilian and Singapore networks.
The NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, released footage of Abba Kyari, offering a bribe to an officer of the agency to facilitate the release of some seized drugs during a press briefing at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday.
Kyari claimed that the agency had intercepted and arrested some traffickers that came into the country from Ethiopia with, according to him, 25kgs of cocaine.
The embattled cop proposed a drug deal whereby he and his team are to take 15kgs of the cocaine and leave 10kgs for the prosecution of the suspects arrested with the illicit drug in Enugu. He told the NDLEA officer that the drugs will be replaced with a dummy worth 15kg and asked the officer to persuade men of the FCT Command, to play along as well.
In the video, Kyari put pressure on the officer to wrap up the arrangement with the commander of the FCT Command to take custody of the drug and suspects from his men who were on the ground in Abuja. In the footage, the suspended head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) was captured on camera mounting pressure on the NDLEA agent to release the drugs to him and bribing the officer with $61,000.
The Police gave the names of the other indicted officers alongside Kyari to include DCP Abba Kyari, ACP Sunday Ubuah, ASP Bawa James, ASP John Umoru (at large), Inspr. Simon Agrigba and John Nuhu.
